Into the Blue
A series of paintings inspired by water. If given the choice I choose to be by a body of water every time. The ocean, the lake, a pond or a creek is where I find my sense of calm and serenity. Within and the surrounding areas of these bodies of water is an abundance of shapes, lines, colors & textures which are documented and later used as inspiration & reference. Most of my work is inspired by nature but of all our natural surroundings I am drawn to the water the most, which has allowed me to produce artwork that reflects the ethereal quality of water whether its abstract or more realistic. My goal in creating these pieces is for the viewer to feel the same.
The inspiration behind these pieces comes from the gardens that surround the studio. I have been an avid gardening for years learning from the very best, my mom and grandma! I have plants that have been passed down generation to generation. I tell my students lots of stories about my childhood and most of them include nature in some way. Many of our compositions that we create in the studio stem from the natural world around us, we just have to stop, look and take it all in.
